Than Tun

Than Tun uses powdered colour that he grinds and blends on his own in all his paintings. Despite the difficulty of using powder in his work, Than Tun's paintings are beautifully detailed. In 2010 he won the First Prize in Fine Art Painting, “500 Anniversary of Taung-Ngu Ancient City” Art Competition.

  • 1963 Born in Taung-Ngu, an ancient city in middle part of Myanmar

  • 1981 Attended Private Art School, Yangon and studied art from master U Kyaw Myint

  • Studied Illustration Art from Pangyi U Myint Thein

  • Studied Portrait Art from master U Tin Maung

  • 1985 Opened an art studio near Shwe Sandaw Pagoda, Taung-Ngu and work for oil, charcoal and water color paintings and especially color powder portrait paintings
