Myint Soe

Myint Soe was born in Yangon in 1955. Being the eldest son of the famous Myanmar Artist Bagyi Aung Soe and Daw Ahmar, he started painting since childhood, and studied art at the State School of Fine Art in 1977. He spent much of his life in jewelry design work at Myanmar Gem Enterprise. He studied art under U Thu Kha, Bogalay U Kyaw Hlaing, U Soe Tint, U Ko Lay, Maung Nyo Win, Maung Di and Bagyi Aung Soe.


Myint Soe participated in the "POP ART EXHIBITION" at the Peacock Gallery in 1982. Seventeen years later in 2004, he hosted his first solo show "MYINT SOE SOLO SHOW" and co-hosted a group show, the "JUNE SHOW", at the Lokanat Gallery, Yangon. He also took part in many STUDIO SQUARE GROUP Exhibitions.


Myint Soe is fond of using bold brushstrokes to give his large canvases black paint strokes cut across in all directions. He also design book covers and illustrates for many Myanmar magazines.
